Resume Tips
Please keep in mind that a resume/CV submitted is your opportunity to be noticed in 30 seconds, so make your resume count.
The resume is a tool with one specific purpose: to win an interview.
- A resume is an advertisement.
- A resume should inspire the prospective employer to pick up the phone and ask you to come in for an interview.
- A resume is not a history of your past.
- A resume is not a personal statement or some sort of self expression.
Next Steps and Interviewing
If you are fortunate to be called in for an interview or to simply meet with a manager or representative of the company, feel free to thank them for the invitation and begin your path to success with clear dialogue.
- Always remember to research your interview location before the date so that you know how to get there by public or private transportation.
- Remember to dress for the occassion. A little bit of research and a phone call to the recruiter may help avoid embarrasing situations.
- Bring extra copies of your resume/CV, especially if it has been updated since you last submitted your application.
- Do follow up with a thank you notification to the interviewer so that you may open another path of dialogue.
