| Name: | Lincoln |
| Company: | Bertelsmann, Inc. |
| Location: | New York City |
I was born and raised in California and moved out east in 2006 to go to college.
My friends describe me as an outgoing, loyal and hard working type of person. I love meeting new people and sharing my experiences with them.
I have a dog back home named Martha, and when I get my own house a dog will be my first investment.
In the future I would love to start my own business that would allow me to travel as much as possible.
I love to surf when I am back home in California as well as hang out with my friends and family.
Describe your educational background. Where did you study, what degrees did you receive?
This next year I will be a senior at Princeton University where I hope to graduate with a sociology degree in the spring of 2010. I graduated from De La Salle high school in 2006 which is located in Concord, California.
Describe your career history. What have been your professional experiences prior to your current position?
This is my first working experience in regards to working for a major corporation. My previous summers consisted mostly of training and playing basketball for Princeton. Last summer I studied abroad in Florence, Italy, taking several summer courses about art history and Italian architecture.
What are your current roles and responsibilities?
Currently I have been helping with updating the CreateYourOwnCareer website as well as other Bertelsmann websites. I also conceptualized a social networking media game for the CreateYourOwnCareer site and did some research in regards to social networking sites and media games and how effective they are in spreading the name of a brand. This past week I started my final project which will be a Vlog about my experience as an intern at Bertelsmann HR Services in North America. I will also include what the other interns experiences are like in my Vlog’s.
What attracted you to your company and position?
When I was looking for an internship for the summer, I knew I wanted to work for some sort of international marketing firm. When I found out that Bertelsmann Inc. was looking for interns I jumped on it. Bertelsmann Inc. is one of the largest media marketing corporations in the world and I felt that I would gain a lot of valuable experience in the marketing world as well as work with a very diverse group of people. My experience with the firm has surpassed my expectations and I have learned a lot about marketing and the developing media world.
What is your favorite thing about your job?
My favorite part about my job is the flexibility it encompasses. Our office work environment is very inviting and open to creativity and branching out. Also having other interns from around the world has taught me how to work better and adapt to people from different cultures and who speak different languages.
If you could meet anyone from history, living or dead, who would it be?
I would have to say Bob Marley. He was a great artist and all about loving one another. I think that we could really use some of his lessons that he preached in today’s society.
What qualities do you feel are necessary to be a successful employee at your company?
I feel being creative and open to new ideas are huge factors in being a successful employee at Bertelsmann Inc.. Before my internship started I was not very computer savvy, but once I came here and began asking questions when I needed to I began to feel much more confident with my computer skills.
Have you had an opportunity to travel as part of your job?
If you count going to Times Square and Central Park to film my Vlog then yes! Otherwise my travels have consisted of going to the coffee machine on a regular basis as well as the downstairs food court.
Do you feel you have a good understanding of Bertelsmann and it’s corporate culture?
I do feel like I have a good feeling of what the corporate culture is like at Bertelsmann. Getting the “Big Picture” speech at the beginning of my internship really helped me understand what our specific HR department does in regards to all the Bertelsmann companies in North America.

Caddyshack
