Meet Tiffany...

Describe your educational background. Where did you study, what degrees did you receive?

I am currently a senior at St. John’s University in Queens New York. I will be graduating in May with a Bachelors of Science in Television and Film Production and a minor in business administration.

Describe your career history. What have been your professional experiences prior to your current position?

I have had many jobs working in offices as administrative assistant working for the FAA and the Atlantic City Municipal Utilities Authorities. I was an administrative intern for New York Road Runners Foundation and I also was on the marketing team for Redbull North America. Currently I am an after school teacher at the Beacon program of I.S. 5 in Elmhurst, NY.

What attracted you to your company and position? What is your favorite thing about your job?

I was attracted to Bertelsmann because I found the company really interesting. Bertelsmann does so much I thought it would be great to intern here because I could acquire knowledge and different skills that would be helpful to me. My favorite things about my job are the people. Everyone is warm and inviting which makes me want to come in everyday.

What has been your most memorable moment (so far) in your job?
I think so far at my interview when Freddie asked me if I liked to eat. I knew after that I would fit in just fine.

If you could meet anyone from history, living or dead, who would it be? 
Hmmm I have a lot. It would have to be between Martin Luther King Jr., Andy Warhol, Nelson Mandela, Gandhi, Alfred Hitchcock, Katherine Dunham, Steven Spielberg, Judith McAllister, Clint Eastwood Cynthia Cooper and Obama of course. I like a lot of people.

What qualities do you feel are necessary to be a successful employee at your company? 
Good time management skills, ability to multi - task and good communication skills.

Finally, please write a paragraph or two about yourself, your interests, hobbies, goals, meaningful life experiences, role models, memories, etc.:

I am Tiffany McPherson and I am 21 yrs old. I am currently a senior at St. Johns University and I will have my Bachelors of Science in Television and Film Production and a minor in Business management. I am from Atlantic City, New Jersey and have one older brother and two Great parents. We are a liberal Christian family, my Dad is one of my best friends and through everything I do I want to keep my parents proud of me. My dad is a nuclear engineer and works at PSE&G and my mom is an accountant for a public school system in New Jersey. My parents and my grandparents are the people I look up to the most they both have the ability to make whatever problem I have seem so much smaller. I am the youngest my brother is 23; he’s a law student at St. John’s as well. (I was there first; he followed me after completing his undergrad at the University of Connecticut.) 

I am a lively person, I can’t sit still, always on the move enjoying and exploring new things. I work at an after school program in Queens teaching 7th and 8th grade Mondays – Thursdays. On campus I am vice president of my dance team and vice president of CAUSE which is a community service organization on St. John’s campus. Occasionally on weekends I volunteer as a ballet teacher and soccer coach at the YMCA of Jamaica. My hobbies are definitely dance been dancing for 15 yrs, I love to play and watch sports, shopping and working on cars with my dad and brother. I have a passion for people especially kids and just like helping or make someone’s day. I have the ability to multi task and think I do it well. I live by my planner and write down everything so I make sure I’m always on schedule. 

My life goal is to just continue being happy and successful. My dream job is to produce and shoot live TV. Such as the news or cover special events like inaugurations, state of the union addresses’, award shows, basically any type of live television broadcasts. I also want to teach television on a college and/or high school level and then own my own editing company one day. I have the greatest friends few in number big in personality. My friends and family know that I can’t so no. They see it as a curse I see it as my blessing. I’ve been fortunate to have a lot of great people in my life so I have no problem being that “great” person to someone else. I am very sarcastic and love to laugh and smile, can’t get through my day with out it. I think that’s pretty much it. A little piece of me.
