Describe your educational background. Where did/do you study, what degrees did/will you receive?
I completed a 4-year Double-Degree program. The first 2 years I studied at the ESB Business School in Reutlingen, Germany. The last 2 years I studied at ICADE in Madrid. The program includes 2 practical semesters. Upon completing the studies, I received both a BSc degree in International Management from ESB and a ‘Grado’ degree from ICADE.

Describe your career history. What have been your professional experiences?
During my studies, I completed various internships in different companies and in different departments in order to gain insights into the distinct fields of business. As I am both interested in Marketing and strategic topics, I wanted to experience the work typically done in these areas. So, I worked in Shopper & Customer Marketing for NIVEA at Beiersdorf, in Strategic Development at Deutsche Telekom and in Marketing and Sales Consulting.

What attracted you to Bertelsmann and your internships? What is/was your favorite aspect about your job?
I found Bertelsmann an interesting company because of its complex but ample portfolio of business activities worldwide. Especially the combination of different kinds of media is very exciting and can hardly be found at any other company to such an extent.
Regarding my internship specifically, I enjoyed working on a variety of different projects so that I could get a good overview of the company.

What has been your most challenging/rewarding/exciting task or project thus far?
During my internship, I was able to support the team responsible for the organization of the Bertelsmann Digitial Excellence Conference. Apart from meeting many interesting people from different divisions and different countries, it was very exiting to learn about new digital developments and opportunities that may influence the future development of Bertelsmann.

What qualities do you feel are necessary to be a successful employee at Bertelsmann?
I believe the most important qualities are creativity and innovation. Bertelsmann’s employees need to be creative in order to successfully create content as well as business solutions that excite the customers. They also need to innovate in order to successfully adapt to constantly changing market conditions in a more digital and more global environment.

What was/is a typical day during your internship like?
A typical day would include both coordination with team members as well as employees from other departments and preparation of documents such as presentations and research results. For example, I was responsible for the preparation of the documentation for several cross-divisional top management meetings in different core markets of Bertelsmann.

What are your professional goals? Any others?
Upon completing the Gap Year program, I am looking to start a Masters program with a focus on strategy. This is because I am planning to work either in corporate development or strategic business consulting.

If you have one word to describe Bertelsmann – what would it be?
Digital transformation
