Describe your educational background. Where did / do you study, what degrees did / will you receive?
I am currently enrolled in the Bachelor of Science programme of WHU - Otto Beisheim School of Management. In my studies, I focus on FInance and Economics and am also interested in the field of Entrepreneurship.

Describe your career history. What have been your professional experiences?
Before enrolling at WHU, I got to know the business world for four months at AWD, an insurance sales company. Here, I had the opportunity to get a first insight into how business is run - admittedly from a purely sales-driven perspective. In 2009, I spent three months at tarifas24, a Spanish internet startup company, where I was responsible for B2B marketing, affiliate marketing, and also had business development-related tasks. I have to say, working in a startup is a thrilling experience! Last summer then I found my way to Bertlesmann: For three months I worked for arvato services in their Logistics branch. Once again, my focus here was on business development, but I also got insights into company strategy.

What attracted you to Bertelsmann and your internships? What is / was your favorite aspect about your job?
What is overwhelming at Bertelsmann is that you can do anything - both in existing and new business! Whatever your interests are, they pretty sure have someone working on it. And if not - you might just be the first one doing it. Then, of course, the colleagues and the communication within the company. Not only are people committed to their goals, there also exists a certain spirit about working at Bertelsmann that is almost indescribable.

What has been your most challenging / rewarding / exciting task or project thus far?
At Bertelsmann, I had the opportunity to be part of a team designing a new B2B service for a large mobile provider. Being part of such an innovative team and actually get responsibility from the first day on was one of the most rewarding things I experienced in my business life so far.

What qualities do you feel are necessary to be a successful employee at Bertelsmann?
Be goal-driven. Be open to new things. Be communicative.

What was / is a typical day during your internship like?
One of the many qualities of my internship at Bertelsmann was that no day was like another - the projects I worked on were all in different stages of development, so with every project came a different way to work and different tasks. So this question actually is quite hard to answer...

What are your professional goals? Any others ;-) ?
I enjoy jobs where I can learn as much as possible. This is my short-term goal. Mid-term, I want a job that challenges me every day. I like to take on responsibility and this is where, again, the spirit of Bertelsmann comes into play: You can get the chance to work entrepreneurially! Regarding the long-term perspective, I want to build up something own. This does not necessarily need to be a startup company, but might as well be a new business within an existing company framework. However, these thoughts are still quite far... :)

For my personal goals, in my life I want to at least be able to speak two more languages fluently and travel through South America :)

If you had one word to describe Bertelsmann – what would it be?
Multifaceted.
