Describe your educational background. Where did / do you study, what degrees did / will you receive?
I completed by Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration at the University of St. Gallen in April 2013 and I am going to pursue a Master’s degree in International Business at HEC Paris starting this September.

Describe your career history. What have been your professional experiences?
During my studies I completed some short workshops and internships to find out which industries really fascinate me. From August till December 2012 I interned in the Institutional Equity Division of Morgan Stanley in Frankfurt. I am currently working in the corporate development department (ZU) of Bertelsmann in Berlin with a special focus on digital development and partnerships.

What attracted you to Bertelsmann and your internships? What is / was your favorite aspect about your job?
I have always been a keen user of all kinds of media and Bertelsmann with its different divisions provided the opportunity to gain insight into the challenges of the different media forms and to get to know their respective working processes. I love that Bertelsmann is a truly international company and although it employs more than 100,000 employees, it is still very entrepreneurial and individuals can have a real impact.

What has been your most challenging / rewarding / exciting task or project thus far?
The most rewarding task has been a project which I prepared for members of the board and had the sole responsibility for as my team was on a business trip abroad.

What qualities do you feel are necessary to be a successful employee at Bertelsmann?
Obviously passion for media is the key. But also an open mind and creativity to master the challenges and opportunities that the digitalization has to offer. Team spirit and the willingness to take on responsibility and to make a difference are also very important.

What was / is a typical day during your internship like?
Luckily, I have not experienced “a typical day” yet, because the tasks I got to work on were all every different and continue to be new and exciting every day. Because ZU is working for all divisions the topics I was confronted with varied a great amount. From organizing an event with potential partners, to doing market analyses for potential joint ventures or analyzing potential acquisition goals for a division, I have enjoyed everything and was excited that I got to witness the whole process of a transaction during my time at Bertelsmann.

What are your professional goals? Any others ;-) ?
Right now my goal is to make the most of my time in Paris and to successfully complete my master’s degree and improve my French. After that I would like to start working in an international and challenging environment. Professionally I would like to take on more responsibilities and with more experience become a real asset to the company I am working for.
On a personal level, I would love to travel and work in as many countries as I possibly can – to get to know the people and their cultures and to further improve my language skills.

If you had one word to describe Bertelsmann – what would it be?
Transforming
