Describe your educational background. Where did / do you study, what degrees did / will you receive?
I studied Business Administration & Economics at the Goethe University in Frankfurt am Main from 2009-2012. During my last two years at the Gymnasium Münnerstadt I attended the Leistungskurs Wirtschaft und Recht which triggered my passion for this academic field. Furthermore, I was attracted by the vast choice of career opportunities you can pursue graduating with a Business Degree. Due to the great reputation of the Goethe University in Business & Economics and an entire new campus with top notch facilities, the decision was made easily. In August 2013, I will go to Sweden for starting a Master's degree in International Management (CEMS) at the Stockholm School of Economics. Within this master program I will spend one semester at the Keio University in Tokyo.

Describe your career history. What have been your professional experiences?
My professional experiences include an internship at the consulting firm HPP-Consulting in Frankfurt am Main as well as four months working for a Rocket Internet startup in South Africa. Besides the internships, I was involved at the student consultancy GREEN finance consulting.

What attracted you to Bertelsmann and your internships? What is / was your favorite aspect about your job?
Due to my interest for entrepreneurship and the whole startup ecosystem, I was highly interested in getting first-hand insights at a venture capital firm. The chance to work at BDMI, the corporate venture capital fund of Europe's largest media company, represented therefore a very exciting opportunity.

What has been your most challenging / rewarding / exciting task or project thus far?
With regards to the internship at BDMI, it was extremely rewarding to get exposure to many (co-)founders of all kinds of startup companies. It was such a valuable experience to meet all these people and learn about various business models and approaches of building a successful company.

What qualities do you feel are necessary to be a successful employee at Bertelsmann?
Considering Bertelsmann different divisions, it is important to have a strong interest in media. In addition, I think it is crucial to be open-minded towards new technologies especially the ones which disrupt the media landscape and the way people consume content.

What was / is a typical day during your internship like?
During the internship at BDMI, my job role included various and very different tasks. I helped for instance to organize international networking events or conducted market research in sectors relevant to BDMI's investment focus. Besides these more project-like tasks, I supported the partners and analyst in the analysis and evaluation of investment opportunities on a daily basis.

What are your professional goals? Any others ;-) ?
After finishing my study program, I would like to start a job which requires me to successfully work on diverse tasks and topics. Furthermore, I am eager to work within an international environment. In the long run, it would be highly fulfilling but also very challenging to successfully start my own venture.

If you have one word to describe Bertelsmann – what would it be?
