Describe your educational background. Where did/do you study, what degrees did/will you receive?
From 2010 to 2014 I studied Business Administration at Ludwig Maximilian University of Munich with focus on digital markets and e-commerce.
Upon completion of my Bachelor of Science degree I started a Master in Advanced Analytics degree program in order to increase my analytical skills.

Describe your career history. What have been your professional experiences?
Between finishing my bachelor’s degree and moving to Portugal I worked as a Data Analyst in the Sales Team of NBC Universal and developed a tool for the analysis of sales related data.
Following the academic stage of my master’s degree, I worked as a Big Data and Business Intelligence Intern at arvato Financial Solutions. As part of my job I did Ad-Hoc data analysis, developed a self-service reporting tool as well as credit scoring models using evolutionary algorithms.

What attracted you to Bertelsmann and your internships? What is/was your favorite aspect about your job?
Ultimately, it was the job description. I read it and knew that this was what I wanted to do.
My job consisted of precisely the content I was eager to engage with and additionally gave me the opportunity to broaden my horizon by learning things I didn’t even have on my radar before.

What has been your most challenging/rewarding/exciting task or project thus far?
Back in 2014 I developed a tool for the analysis of company specific sales related data which is still in use. Knowing that people rely on what I worked very hard on is rewarding beyond words.

What qualities do you feel are necessary to be a successful employee at Bertelsmann?
To think ahead. Successful people and companies tend to become way too comfortable and once the inevitable change happens they desperately try to figure it out. Instead, they need be the change – than they’re always ahead of it.

What was/is a typical day during your internship like?
My daily routine differed depending on the project I was working on. But in general I can say that after firing up my computer I picked up where I left before and continued my way down the rabbit hole in order to squeeze out new insights from the data I was working on.

What are your professional goals? Any others?
Among both my professional as well as my personal goals is the intention to get into a position from where I can take part in shaping the future.

If you have one word to describe Bertelsmann – what would it be?
Reinvention - Companies like Bertelsmann that are deeply anchored within traditional industries need outstanding reinvention abilities in order to successfully tackle the challenges of the ongoing digital transformation.
