Describe your educational background. Where did/do you study, what degrees did/will you receive?
During my bachelor studies at WHU, I went abroad for one semester to Indiana University. After three years of studying I received my Bachelor of Science in International Business Administration. In the following year, I did four internships and spent some time travelling around the globe. In the fall term 2017, I started my masters degree in Munich in Management & Technology, where my business major is finance and my technical minor is computer science. In addition, I am participating in the CDTM program, which is an Honor Degree specialized in Entrepreneurship.

Describe your career history. What have been your professional experiences?
In the last years, I did internships at Rocket Internet, Roland Berger, BCG, two private equity funds and of course Bertelsmann.

What attracted you to Bertelsmann and your internships? What is/was your favorite aspect about your job?
I had already a couple of touch points with Bertelsmann even before considering an internship there (e.g. Euromasters and company presentations). Thereby, I heard about their exceptional team spirit and their pragmatic doing mentality. During that time, I heard the first time about the Bertelsmann Education Group. This approach fascinated me and during my internship I realized how much you, as an individual, can still shape this project. I really enjoyed the fast integration in the team which I have not seen somewhere else. In general, I can highly recommend this internship and working in this teams provides you a great learning opportunity, a lot of responsibilities and an enjoyable team spirit.

What has been your most challenging/rewarding/exciting task or project thus far?
The most exciting project from a professional as well as personal development has been my work in Bangladesh. I participated in the Grameen Bank training program, which provides financing opportunities to the poorest people of the country. Moreover, I worked for three months for Rocket Internet in Bangladesh. During this time, we scaled up the team and operations. This was challenging from a professional as well as cultural dimension.

What qualities do you feel are necessary to be a successful employee at Bertelsmann?
From my perspective, it is important to think for oneself, questioning status quo and be a team player. I had the feeling that my opinion was always valued and considered, even as an intern. With this attitude, you can get the most out of your Bertelsmann experience.

What was/is a typical day during your internship like?
The work at the Bertelsmann Education Group is mostly project based. This means we were working on several different strategic questions from our portfolio companies and conducted market research as well as set up reporting structures. Moreover, we were responsible for the reporting from the entire group to the Bertelsmann headquarter in Gütersloh.

What are your professional goals? Any others?
My professional goal is to find a job I really enjoy doing and where I can have an impact on the future success. To make this happen, I strongly believe that the team is the most important decision factor since you will spend considerably long time with them. Ideally, I would like to pursue my entrepreneurial spirit further and might be able to evolve it in a company setting or start my own.

If you have one word to describe Bertelsmann – what would it be?
