Describe your educational background. Where did/do you study, what degrees did/will you receive?
During my studies of Business Psychology at Leuphana University, my interest for business issues and economic interrelationships more and more came to light. Hence, I supplemented my studies at the University of Melbourne, focusing on strategy and business consulting.

Describe your career history. What have been your professional experiences?
I started off working in the Knowledge Management department at Otto Group, ensuring a good and smooth collaboration within the corporation. During my studies, I volunteered in a student consultancy before I carried out a thought leadership project as project student at Deloitte Australia.

What attracted you to Bertelsmann and your internships? What is/was your favorite aspect about your job?
What excites me about Bertelsmann is the variety of products and fields of activities. It is fascinating to see how a company of this size successfully transforms itself over and over again in order to enter and develop new markets such as the online education sector.

What has been your most challenging/rewarding/exciting task or project thus far?
I am just back from a business trip to London, where we collaborate with the fintech accelerator Startupbootcamp. It was quite interesting to see the startups’ pitches from “the other side” as potential partner or investor and to assess their ideas with colleagues from e.g. MasterCard, PwC, and Rabobank.

What qualities do you feel are necessary to be a successful employee at Bertelsmann?
Working for Bertelsmann, you should be adaptable, open-minded and have a hands-on mindset to proactively tackle issues and further develop the company.

What was/is a typical day during your internship like?
There is no typical day. Because the work in Corporate Development is very much based on projects, the variety of tasks is high. However, as the department’s main focus is on M&A, evaluating companies and managing due diligence processes are our core tasks.

What are your professional goals? Any others?
I aim to work in a strategy-driven setting where I can create value, both for the company and the social environment. But is there a specific destination? No. As I always want to learn and further develop myself you can truly say “the journey is the goal”. Besides, I hopefully will make a round-the-world trip one day.

If you have one word to describe Bertelsmann – what would it be?
